I’ve known Emily for about 11 years now. Her wedding was just this June 2022 and exactly 10 years and one month ago I photographed her Quinceañera. She was such a sweet girl that grew up to be an amazing woman and she found the love of her life in Jonathen. We were brainstorming, where and when to take engagement photographs since their wedding was relatively last minute. Usually, I book weddings a year in advance but her wedding was with maybe 2 months’ notice and it happened on Father’s Day. Being a father I did have to think about being able to be there on her big day but how could I have said no?! Engagement photographs at Vasquez Rocks are amazing. The location is pretty famous and if you’re a fan of this kind of location then you can’t go wrong here. Just don’t be afraid of a little walking on the uneven ground and maybe I’ll take you to the top of the rocks so bring your climbing gear, kidding but do bring some water. If you want more information about Vasquez Rocks let me know, I have a ton of tips for you BUT here are a few. Schedule your shoot here either early morning or later in the evening to get the very best light. Bring comfy shoes in between taking photographs and lastly, treat your photographer to some Starbucks afterward, lol.

Ahh, the Pie Hole. How I love engagement sessions here. I mean there are pies here and they are really, really good and If I do my job really well the clients always get me a piece of pie, haha. Kidding but I do get to take home a slice of pie for my kids after the session. I mean check out these photographs, to have a session while eating some pie is awesome although those photos are really only for a tiny bit. The real cool thing about the Pie Hole aren’t so much the pies themselves but where we are. This is in Downtown Los Angeles in the arts district so you have all these really cool murals everywhere.
The thing about this place is that you have to, have to go there super early because if you go later in the day there are so many people everywhere. That in itself is pretty cool to be in an urban location with people around you but I do prefer the more intimate look of you having the entire Pie Hole location to yourself or the Arts District for yourself for that matter. What do you prefer?

Pasadena City Hall is kind of like my home away from home now. I should be paying rent at this point. I say that because I am always there. Weekends or weekdays, it doesn’t matter because I always seem to be going there and so do tons of other people too. Any given day you can go there and see anything from a quinceañera taking photos to some people dressed up in cosplay to a huge wedding with a deep, deep wedding party. Pasadena City Hall is that kind of place which is why Sara & Neftail chose to take photos there. These two are a cool couple that I really, really enjoyed hanging out with. Their outfit choices were amazing and their vibe just made it easy for me to photograph them. Their wedding is coming up so fast and I cannot wait! They’re a ton of fun and their wedding will be also!

If you’re thinking of having your engagement shoot or any kind of shoot at this place then there are a few things to keep in mind. The best times to go here are either really early in the morning or later in the evening. Weekday evenings is probably the very best time take engagement photographs at Pasadena City Hall because this is actually a place where lots of people work. Weekends is like a zoo here! Yeah we can still get the super nice photographs on weekends but if you want that epic and wide shot of the entire place you just cannot get that on a weekend. There are way too many people there at any given time so knowing all of that, lets schedule your shoot today!
